The 2016 China Fragrance & Fragrance Cosmetics Industry Association Annual Conference, themed "Forging Ahead, Innovating and Developing," was held in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, from August 26th to 29th. A business exchange meeting between the China Flavor & Fragrance Cosmetic Industry Association and the China Daily Chemical Industry Research Institute was recently held at the China Daily Chemical Research Institute in Taiyuan, Shanxi Province. The conference aimed to provide new ideas and impetus for the industry's innovative development and contribute to the high-quality development of my country's flavor and fragrance industry. The expert forum kicked off at 9:30 a.m. at the Wuxi International Convention Center. The morning session was moderated by Professor Ke Qinfei of Shanghai University of Applied Technology. Keynote speeches were delivered by Academician Sun Baoguo of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Professor Xiao Zuobing of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Researcher Zhang Jianbo of the National Food Safety Risk Assessment Center. They focused on the opportunities and challenges of my country's flavor and fragrance industry development, aroma synergy and release control research, and the progress of the revision of standards related to food flavors and fragrances.

In order to promote the development strategy driven by technological innovation, strengthen the dominant position and leading role of enterprises in technological innovation, further promote the deep integration of technological innovation and economy, and improve the level of technological innovation and development in the industry, the China Flavor and Fragrance Cosmetics Industry Association, based on more than 20 years of adhering to the China Flavor and Fragrance/Cosmetics Academic Seminar, decided to hold the "2016 China Flavor and Fragrance Cosmetics Industry Science and Technology Conference and the 11th Academic Seminar". This conference focuses on the theme of "Technology Leading and Innovation Driven", and has set up sections such as technology conferences, academic exchanges, and related forums, covering keynote speeches related to the development of industry technological innovation, discussions and exchanges on technological innovation and regulatory supervision, raw materials and product development directions, and other colorful contents.

From May 21 to 23, 2017, the 2017 China Flavor and Fragrance Industry Conference hosted by the Flavor and Fragrance Branch of our association was held in Zhuhai. A total of 240 representatives from more than 20 countries attended the conference. This conference invited 9 senior experts in the industry from home and abroad to give keynote speeches, covering professional speeches on national flavor products such as Chinese eucalyptus oil, Madagascar ylang ylang, Somali frankincense and myrrh, Chinese fennel essential oil, Bulgarian flower hydrosol, Australian sandalwood essential oil, and Yunnan aromatic resources in China. In addition, the two presidents of the Indonesian Essential Oil Association and the European Essential Oil Association gave keynote speeches on the challenges and development of the world essential oil industry under the new situation, and promoted the 2018 Asian Spice Conference and the spice industry of the 69th Regiment of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps.

2021 is the first year of the 14th Five-Year Plan. As an important raw material supporting industry for food, daily chemicals, tobacco, cosmetics, medicine, feed and other industries in the national economy, spices and flavors are an important material basis for ensuring the implementation of major national strategies and economic and social development. The 14th Five-Year Plan and the Vision Goals for 2035 clearly stated: "Focus on the needs of industrial transformation and upgrading and residents' consumption upgrading, and lead and create new demands with innovation-driven, high-quality supply". Under the "dual circulation" pattern, the development of my country's spices and flavors industry has entered a major strategic opportunity period. The product diversification development of downstream industries such as the daily chemical industry, food industry, and pharmaceutical industry, as well as the trend of national consumption towards green, healthy and safe development, have put forward higher requirements for the output and quality of spices and flavors. Breaking through the key core technologies of imitation and creation of fragrances, accelerating the upgrading of special equipment such as extraction and testing, further improving the level of product functional customization, and building a stable coordination of the industrial chain and supply chain have become important factors restricting the development of the spices and flavors industry. With the introduction of a series of national policy documents, my country's spices and flavors industry has made great progress in terms of product quantity, technological innovation and production scale, showing a good development trend. According to data from China Industry Information Network, China's flavor and fragrance production in 2019 was about 1.267 million tons, and in 2020 it was about 1.356 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 7%. The industry sales volume was about 45.9 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 2.3%. The downstream consumption structure is mainly in the fields of food and beverage, daily chemical cleaning, tobacco, pharmaceutical industry, textile and leather. In the future, with the continuous growth of my country's economy, the rapid development of downstream industries, and the continuous expansion of internal demand, the flavor and fragrance industry will usher in a new round of growth.

The 2018 China Flavors, Fragrances and Cosmetics Industry Annual Conference was held in Yichang, Hubei Province a few days ago. The number of enterprises has increased from 83 in 1980 to more than 1,000 at present; the market size has expanded from 729 million yuan in 1985 to 37.06 billion yuan in 2017, an increase of 70 times. In 2017, the export trade of my country's flavors and fragrances enterprises involved more than 150 countries and regions, with an export value of US$3.935 billion and an import value of US$3.696 billion.

From September 21 to 24, 2020, the 2020 China Aromatherapy Industry Conference and the 2020 China Flavor and Fragrance Industry Conference were held in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province, with more than 270 representatives participating.
